Toyota Tacoma Recall Issued Over Mud-Brake Problem

2024-2025 Tacoma Brake Issue
The recall specifically targets 2024 and 2025 model year four-wheel-drive Tacomas equipped with 17-inch wheels and 16-inch rear disc brakes.
According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this specific wheel-and-brake combo may allow dirt or mud to accumulate inside the wheel. This buildup could wear through the nearby brake lines, leading to a brake fluid leak. This leak could reduce stopping power and increase the risk of an accident.
As of January 29, Toyota has received five technical field reports and 12 warranty claims related to this issue. While the problem currently appears to be limited to four-wheel-drive Tacomas with the specific wheel and brake setup mentioned above, Toyota acknowledges that the scope of the recall could expand. Rear-wheel-drive Tacomas and those with 18-inch wheels are not affected at this time.
