Toyota Tundra Paint Code Guide
The Toyota Tundra is one of the toughest, most capable, and dependable trucks on the road. It was built for adventure and to handle whatever you throw at it. But it's also extremely well-rounded. It's comfortable, roomy, and comes in a number of configurations to suit just about any lifestyle.
When it comes to parts, we've got your Toyota Tundra covered. And if you have rock chips or scratches in your paint, we can help you with that as well. However, sometimes finding the right paint can be confusing. Paint names and codes change from model to model or year to year. For that reason, we put together this guide which highlights the different generations of the Toyota Tundra and their paint codes.
First Generation (2000 - 2006)
The first-generation Tundra had a lot in common with its predecessor, the T100. Launched in May 1999 as a 2000 model, Toyota produced it from 2000 to 2006. Toyota had considered calling the new truck the T150 but renamed it the Tundra after Ford initiated a lawsuit, saying the name was too close to the F-150. The Tundra came in several configurations. The standard engine was a 3.4-liter V6 but a 4.7-liter V8 was also added as an option.

Second Generation (2007 - 2021)
A larger Tundra debuted at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show. The styling was a cross between the Toyota Tacoma and the FTX concept truck. But the impressive part was the Tundra's new towing capacity - rated up to 10,000 lbs. A new 5.7-liter V8 was offered along with the standard 4.7-liter V8 from the previous generation.
The second-generation Tundra was designed with commercial use in mind. It could be configured 31 different ways with three bed lengths, three cab configurations, three wheelbases, and two drivetrains. It also included features like large door handles, a deck rail system, an integrated tow hitch, and an electronic limited-slip differential.

Third Generation (2022 - Present)
The big change for the third-generation Tundra was the switch from V8s to turbo-charged and hybrid V6 powertrains. Both engines were equipped with a 10-speed transmission, and the maximum tow rating increased to 12,000 pounds.
Like the second generation, the new Tundra is available in a wide variety of body configurations and trim levels.

How To Locate Your Paint Code

Check the identification plate inside the driver's door to identify your paint code. This plate provides a lot of information about your vehicle, including the manufacture date, configuration, options, and paint color. Every factory color has a unique code to identify the paint formula needed to match the paint.
Many colors look similar or can look the same under different lighting conditions. Likewise, your Tundra's paint color may look different from the sample next to the paint code because of different lighting. Using the correct paint code will make sure you get the right match, whether you're buying touch-up paint for minor chips and scratches or planning on repainting your truck.
