Best Toyota Accessories for Winter - Toyota Parts Blog

With winter fast approaching, it’s worth giving some serious thought to getting your Toyota prepared for the upcoming difficult conditions. We’re going to list some of the best products that you can get for your Toyota that will make the cold spell much easier to handle

Tire Chains

Tire Chains

These are a staple of winter driving. Giving you the extra traction that’s needed on the icy roads it’s possible that you already own a set of these. If you don’t then they are worth investing in. Depending on what sort of Toyota you have there are many different types available. For SUV’s and trucks like the RAV4 or the Tacoma there’s the Thule XB-16. Relatively cheap and they come with a years warranty. If you drive something smaller, like a Yaris or a Camry then the price gets even cheaper, depending on the size of your wheels of course.

Traction Weights

Designed for any Toyota that’s rear wheel drive (4Runner for example), these are essentially a weight to put over the back wheels to give you more traction. Useful if you’re a bit nervous about driving in tricky conditions but not so much if you have four-wheel-drive, so no real use if you have a Tacoma. Being relatively cheap they might be worth investing in even if it is just of some peace of mind, plus they’re more reliable and stable than having a few bags of sand sat in the back.

Car Cover

If you don’t own a garage then this is worth investing in. Aside from making it much easier to remove the snow from your car, these help prevent certain areas of them from freezing, such as your locks and water jets. They also offer an extra later of protection if your parked on the street when a truck comes past spraying salt on the roads.

Leather Conditioner

Cold temperatures can wreak havoc on your leather interior. The constant change from hot to cold temperatures can dry it out and make it more prone to cracking. Invest in some good quality leather cleaner and conditioner from your Toyota dealer and spend the time looking after it.

New Wipers

Wipers

With these not being a major expense (ranging between $13 and $35) these are always worth getting in the winter. A new set of wipers will be more capable of handling the heavier deposits of snow, salt and sand that end up on your windscreen, and they’ll give you some added peace of mind knowing that when you’re heading out you’ll be able to see where you’re going.

Battery Chargers

Battery Chargers

If you’ve ever had trouble starting your car in the winter then this is for you. Products like CTEK Chargers not only keep your battery ready to go but can also monitor the charging performance of your alternator, so it’ll lessen the chance of you breaking down on a snowy day.

More of a novelty than an essential but will be worth its weight in gold when the weather gets cold and your stuck for a few hours. Depending on what you want, you can get some for as low as $15. Just remember not to use them whilst driving.
