Toyota

Is this the new Corolla? Toyota is expected to release an all-new redesigned 2014 Corolla this year. The redesign for the compact sedan is well overdue, considering Honda recently updated its Civic.

To answer the previous question, the vehicle in the image above is not the new Corolla. It’s the Furia concept vehicle. While it’s not the new Corolla, it could hint at what’s in store for the new model. So what should you expect for the 2014 Corolla? Here’s a list of some of the rumors.

  • Edgier Styling – The soft lines and simple styling of previous Corollas may be replaced by sharper lines with a more aggressive look. Toyota recently showed off the Furia concept, which had narrow headlights and a large eight-sided grill.
  • Camry Influence Car And Driver is reporting that the 2014 Corolla may include features similar to the popular Camry model. Based on Corolla spy shots that Car And Driver obtained, it looks like the Corolla will have a Camry Influence. See for yourself here.
  • Engine – There’s probably going to be a bump in fuel economy with the 2014 Corolla. The current 2013 model gets an estimated 27/34 mpg. The EPA is pushing for 40 mpg ratings for the compact car segment, so we might see gas mileage improvements.
  • Release Date Reports say that Toyota may start production on the 2014 Corolla in the second quarter of 2013.
