Your Sprint Cup Guide to NASCAR’s Toyota Racing Teams - Toyota Parts Blog

The 2013 Sprint Cup season is right around the corner! Here’s a preview of the three Toyota Racing Sprint Cup Teams.

Joe Gibbs Racing

jgOwner: Joe Gibbs

Drivers: Kyle Busch (No. 18), Denny Hamilin (No. 11), Matt Kenseth (No. 20)

Joe Gibbs Racing could challenge Hendrick Motorsports as the premiere team in NASCAR thanks to some offseason changes. Joey Logano is gone. Matt Kenseth is in. Don’t worry. Kyle Busch is still with JGR. He recently signed a long-term contract with the team. Both Busch and Hamilin will be looking to rebound from somewhat disappointing years. Kenseth should provide some leadership to the team considering he won the 2003 Sprint Cup.

Michael Waltrip Racing

Drivers: Clint Bowyer (No. 15), Mark Martin (No. 55), Martin Truex Jr. (No. 56), Michael Waltrip (No. 55)

Michael Waltrip Racing is coming off an excellent 2012 season. The team got two teams into the Sprint Cup Chase and notched three victories on its belt. The lineup for MWR looks the same for 2013. With Scott Miller as Director of Competition, MWR will be looking to take advantage of the new sixth-generation NASCARs. Expect big things!

JTG-Daugherty Racing

jtg racingOwner: Tad and Jodi Geschickter, Brad Daugherty

Drivers: Bobby Labonte (No. 47)

JTG-Daugherty is going to have an uphill battle against some of the well-funded multi-car teams such as Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing. However, it does help that they have 2000 Sprint Cup Champion Bobby Labonte as their driver. One big change is that JTG-Daugherty Racing will no longer operate out of the Michael Waltrip Racing shop. Only time will tell what effects that has on the team.
